Tevez Goal Gives Juve Champions League Final Hope

Carlos Tevez second half penalty gave Italian Champions Juventus 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their 2014/2015 UEFA Champions League semi-final match in Turin on Tuesday.

The home side took the game to the reigning Champions League holders right from the blast of the referee’s whistle and nearly got an early penalty when Arturo Vidal went down in the box.

Former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata capitalized on Carlos Tevez’s shot across the face of goal in the 8th minute to put Juventus ahead.

Real Madrid came into the game after the tenth minute with James Rodriguez asking a lot questions in the Juventus area.

In the 27th minute however, 2014 World Best Player Cristiano Ronaldo popped from nowhere to head home his 76th goal of his UEFA Champions League career.

James Rodriguez nearly equalized in the 41st minute when his diving header slalomed the bar as Gianluigi Buffon was caught flat footed in the middle of the post.

Back from the dugout, Juventus kept pressing the visitors and they were rewarded with a penalty in the 56th minute when Real Madrid fullback Daniel Carvajal brought down Tevez in the box forcing referee Martin Atkinson to point to the spot.

The Argentine striker picked himself up to hit the ball past Iker Casillas to give Juventus the hope of qualifying from the semi-final phase of the Champions League after 12 years.
