Mahatma Picks Double Award

Mahatma Otoo
Sogndal forward Mahatma Otoo is on cloud nine after picking the 2012/13 Ghana Premier League flagship award – Footballer of the Year, as well as Top Scorer Award.

The award, received on his behalf by competitor Elvis Amartey, is his fourth streak silverware.

His brilliance in the 2008/09 season won him the Discovery of the year award and extended his superlative performance to the 2009/10 season, finishing as the Footballer of the year.

To the Black Stars striker, the feat had to a large extent humbled and urged him to strive for excellence in his foreign escapade.

Expressing gross appreciation via e-mail, he said ‘Amartey just confirmed that he has received the Footballer of the year and goal king award on my behalf.

‘I feel so humbled and honored for this double award from the GFA and the PLB, and I dedicate this dual award to almighty God.

‘I must admit that the 2012/13 season was the most difficult, yet memorable one for me. It is thus appropriate to thank all those coaches, mates, clubs, family and fans who contributed in diverse ways to make this happen.

‘For some or most of us, where would we have been without such a launch pad? It has helped in developing our talents and potentials. I thank the organizers and wish Ghana soccer well,’ he added.

Otoo returned from injury a few weeks ago and has been impressive with his Norwegian side since the comeback.
