Beware of influx of PDP defectors, Iwuanyanwu cautions APC

emmanuel iwuanyanwuChairman of the Peoples Democratic  Party Elders Council in Imo State, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has warned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to beware of the influx of defectors from the PDP, describing them as “a bunch of impostors and false prophets in  sheep’s clothing”.

The PDP chief said this while briefing journalists after a crucial meeting of the council in Owerri, the state capital on Tuesday.

He attributed the outcome of the governorship election in the state to lack of sincerity and betrayal of trust by some members of the PDP, who he alleged pretended to be working for the success of the party but were actually bought over by the APC to pull down the party.

Iwuanyanwu, a member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, cited the case of a particular chieftain of the party from the Ikeduru Local Government Area, who had all along paraded himself as a political disciple of the party’s governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, but was later found out to have received huge sum of money to work for the APC.

“We have known those who are not reliable and who should not be trusted. Some of them left us immediately after the presidential election and the APC should beware of these game-man-like politicians because they were the same people, who shamelessly destroyed the PDP”, he stated.

Iwuanyanwu, who alleged that the governorship election in the state was marred by irregularities, described Ihedioha as a man of honour and fame.

“He has over the years distinguished himself as a party loyalists and the party has no regret fielding him as his standard bearer”, he added.

Mr. Iwuanyanwu explained that the PDP was still taking critical look at the results of the governorship election in the state as announced by the INEC and would make its position public thereafter.
