The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, has directed Commissioners of Police and Divisional Police Officers in Benue, Rivers, Cross-River and Akwa-Ibom to arrest and prosecute rampaging cultists and other criminal gangs in their states.
Arase took exception to violent activities of the delinquent youths, which he described as a security threat.
The acting IG, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, directed the CPs and DPOs in the aforementioned states to be on the lookout for the cultists and to bring them to book.
Mr. Arase also advised parents and guardians to warn their wards and children against the social menace that could jeopardise their future.
“While observing that no nation can develop if their youths were involved in cultism and other criminal activities, Arase urged the youths to rather engage themselves in productive activities”, the statement added.
