My administration paid N50bn as pension in four years, says Kwankwaso

Rabi'u KwankwasoGovernor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State esterday said his administration spent N50bn on payment of pensions within four years.

The governor made this position known during the commissioning of three warehouses built by the Kano Pension Trustees Fund at the cost of N298million at Kano Free Trade Zone, Panisau in Ungoggo LGA of the state.

According to Kwankwaso, his administration succeeded in increasing pension allowances from N100 to a minimum of N5, 000 monthly.

He also said his administration succeeded in constituting a standing committee to address bottlenecks in pension settlement, in addition to renovating the state pension board’s property under the Public-Private Partnership arrangement.

In a statement by his media aide, Halilu Dantiye, the governor added that the state Pension Trustees Fund had invested N4billion out of N30billion for the construction of Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo cities.
