The Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has reechoed the need for parents in the rural areas to put in a little effort by guiding and nurturing their wards in the area of education although government subsidies for them, hence the urgent need for them to supervise them at home by helping them do their homework, instead of sending them to go and sell before they go to school.
Mrs. Amissah-Arthur gave the advice on Monday 4th May 2015, when she donated educational materials including ten sets of laptops and UPS to the Kogle community in the Nandom District of the Upper west Region.
She said, as a mother and a librarian, she has alwaysmade it part of her social cooperate responsibility to help children in the area of education. Adding that every child needs support and the child would shine, hence the needto give a helping hand to children in deprived communities.
Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur said giving the children formal education was very important in alleviating poverty amongst them and also called on parents and teachers parent the need for them to encourage the children to see beyond themselves and also must act as role models for our children,
Mrs. Amissah Arthur urged the children to take their academic lessons because it would give them good values, they must be disciplined, truthful and honest so that they can go far in life and become good citizens because no child is daft in society.
She also urged them to cultivate the habit of reading because when you read you grow up talking well, so the need for them to see the importance of education because it is education that has brought her far and not to see themselves as deprived or disadvantaged in society .
On behalf of the School, the Kogle Naa took the opportunity to thank the Second Lady for her Kind gesture and support not only for the school in terms of donation but the role she continues to play by helping the less privileged in society.
The Paramount Chief of the Nandom Traditional Area, Naa Puoure Puobe Chiir VII, on his part thanked the Second lady for her kind gesture and stated that he was aware of the fallen standard of education in his area , so would what he can do best as a leader to restore the are back to it status.
