Koforidua Poly faces possible closure

Management of the Koforidua Polytechnic is considering shutting down the school as it is currently operating without water and electricity supply.

Water supply to the Polytechnic was disconnected last week over unpaid bills.

The woes of students and lecturers have been deepened by the disconnection of power supply by the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Acting Rector Godfred Abledu in an interview with Starr News said the situation has disrupted academic and social activities on campus.

He said the arrears have been accumulating since 2014 and has called on government to intervene.

‘We owe ECG about 400,000 cedisโ€ฆthe arrears are from 2014. We are only appealing to the authorities to help us, especially for government to intervene,’ Abledu said.

The Finance Officer of the Polytechnic John Mensah Yeboah also told Starr News that the polytechnic does not have funds to pay the water and electricity bills, which have been accumulating since last year.
