Potential recruit: Manchester United scout Bernard Mensah


Manchester United have shown interest in signing Ghana youth star Bernard Mensah.

Reports emanating in Portugal indicate the Red Devils are monitoring the the youngster and have even sent scouts to watch him.

The 20-year-old, who has gained plaudits for his superb performances for Vitoria Guimaraes this season and has already caught the eye of Valencia and Inter Milan, says he is not concerned about the news surrounding his future but rather focused on helping his team cto reach a higher level.

“I keep hearing about these links, but i have beein saying my focus is to play well and help Guimaraes into the EUROPA league,” Mensah told allsports.com.gh.

“It motivates me to hear the reports about the big clubs showing interest in me but for now i belong to Guimaraes.”

It’s only Mensah’s second season in Portugal, during his first campaign he scored nine times in 26 appearances for the youth team, helping the Vitorianos B-team earn promotion back to Segunda Liga.

His displays earned him a step up to the senior side where he has made 23 appearances so far netting four goals.

West Ham had been credited with an interest in the young midfield sensation in the past, the Hammers were said to have sent scouts to monitor Bernard, as per the Daily Mirror.
