CAF Confederation: Our loss to Djoliba was due to fatigue – Gilbert Fiamenyo

Hearts of Oak striker, Gilbert Fiamenyo says their home loss to AC Djoliba from Mali in the Confederation cup second leg tie on Sunday was due to fatigue.

The Phobians nearly got eliminated from the competition after they were outclassed by the Malians but an 87 minute header from Malick Berthe was not enough for the visitors as they got eliminated on away goal rule after losing the first leg 2-1 in Mali.

On the day Hearts of Oak failed to live up to expectation; they lost control of the game and they were given some football lessons by AC DJoliba who on the day created numerous goal scoring opportunities which the burly attacker for the Phobians, Gilbert Famenyo says their poor outing on the day was due to fatigue.

‘It was a very difficult game, we lost because of fatigue, most of the players were tired on the day, playing three tough games within a week is not easy but the most important thing is we have qualified,’ he told Allsports.com.gh.

‘Now we have to turn our attention on our next opponent in the competition and getting to the money zone is our priority now,’ he added.

Accra Hearts of Oak on Tuesday [5 May, 2015] will know their next opponent in the Confederation cup after CAF’s draw.
