Double joy: Konate brace sinks Black Stars


Senegal claimed a 2-1 win over the Black Stars of Ghana, in an international friendly on Saturday evening.

The Lions of Teranga opened the scoring in the 66th minute through Pape Moussa Konate, who showed great composure to control the ball with his chest before volleying over Brimah Razak.

The Senegalese substitute got his second goal 10 minutes later, as he turned home a cross from Sadio Mane.

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom managed to pull one back for the Black Stars in the 84th minute but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

The win is Senegal’s second successive 2-1 victory over the Stars after beating them with the same scoreline in the Group C opener at the AFCON tournament.

Ghana will take on Mali in its next friendly match, with coach Avram Grant expected to give a few more players a chance to impresss.
