Preview: All set for Match day 12 round of matches in First Capital Plus Premier League

The weekend round of matches in the 2014/2015 First Capital Plus Premier League could churn out lots of surprises as most teams have been handed tricky duels.

Coach David Duncan will lead Asante Kotoko out of the tunnel for the first time at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday when they host Liberty Professionals in their Premier League Match day 12 game.

The Porcupine warriors are fresh from a convincing 3-1 away win over Bechem United and will be hoping to appease their Kumasi home fans with a win over their opponents.

Liberty Professionals on the other hand will seek to recover from their shocking 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics as a defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium could see them slip down the League log.

Kotoko who benefitted from Berekum Chelsea’s docked points are currently lying 8th with 16 points, two points away from the top four whiles Liberty are 11th with just a point less than the David Duncan’s side.

Even before Sunday’s matches, Great Olympics will welcome Wa All Stars to the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday in a match that promises to be very exciting after their respective wins last weekend.

Olympics have boosted their side with the inclusion of ex-Ghana internationals Richard Kingston and Godwin Attram and the duo who helped the team beat Liberty last Sunday, will add a lot of experience to the team when they take on the pride of the Upper West region.

All Stars who have been impressive in recent outings are 6th on the League table with 17 points and a win on Saturday could see them edge closer to the top of the table.

At the Len Clay Stadium, New Edubiase will host Bechem United in a match that will be of importance to the two sides after their heavy losses last weekend to Medeama and Kotoko respectively.

Medeama themselves who won 3-0 at home last Sunday, will face a daunting task away as guests to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Park.

Tom Strand’s side have been unbeaten in their last three matches and will hope to come away from the Kpando Stadium with at least a point though Yussif Abubakar and his lads will have other ideas.

Aduana Stars will also seek to regain their second position on Sunday when they host Berekum Chelsea in a Brong Ahafo derby at the Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa.

Chelsea who are still fighting at the GFA Appeals Committee to have their docked points restored, will not leave anything to chance as they will want to want to go all out for a win.

Premier League coach for the month of February, John Killa will face the task of taking his academy side to the Essipong Stadium as guests of Hasaacas.

Killa has seen a massive improvement in his team, having leaped from the foot of the table to 4th with 7 points away from the top.

Hasaacas themselves are poised to take all the three points at stake after their slim lose to AshGold in the last round of matches.

With 7 points and lying 15th, BA United will face the most difficult task of the weekend when they welcome League leaders Ash Gold to the Sunyani Stadium.

Perhaps Sunday’s match could be the turning point for the promoted side if they manage to stun high-flying Ash Gold.

However, Coach Bashiru Hayford will want to avoid complacency against the “Apostles of Ghana soccer” and will want to extend their gap at the top with a win in the match.

At the Tema Stadium, Hearts of Oak will be going into their match against Inter Allies with some confidence after their recent seven matches unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Phobians are yet to fully escape from the bottom of the table as a loss in the Week 12 game will see them return to relegation zone.

A win however could see Herbert Addo’s side move closer to the top four as they are currently two points away from 5th placed Inter Allies.

Inter Allies who are unbeaten at the Tema Stadium will want to put last weekend’s defeat behind them record an important win over the Phobians.
