GPL preview: David Duncan first home game

The First Capital Plus Bank premier league returns this weekend with mouthwatering clashes at all eight match centres.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will do battle with Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Coach David Duncan will want to announce himself to the home fans with a win to boost their chances of climbing up the league log before the first round of the season signs off.

Liberty Professionals, whose efforts were thwarted by former Black Stars goalie, Richard ‘Olele’ Kingston at the Karl Reindolf Park on match day eleven in their 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics, will want to spoil David Duncan’s home party.

At the Kpando sports stadium, second place Hearts of Lions will be sorting it out with seventh place Medeama SC who have won only four games since the start of the season.

B.A United welcome league leaders AshGold who are on fire. With only two wins and eight defeats already in eleven matches, B.A United’s chances of moving up the foot of the First Capital Plus Bank premier league log look unlikely.

Ashanti Gold have a six – point cushion at the summit of the Ghana Premier League and will attempt to extend their lead over Hearts of Lions who will face a tricky test against Medeama SC in Kpando.

Elsewhere, Paa Kwesi Fabin has told Hearts of Oak that the pitch will do the talking on Sunday when he welcomes his former employer to the Tema Sports Stadium.

Inter Allies have not lost at home since the start of the league and will be buoyed by the return of Prosper Kassim who has returned from his international assignment with the Ghana Black Satellites.

Accra Hearts of Oak‘s season have been topsy-turvy, but they’ve gone seven games undefeated in all competitions, symbolising they are gaining the momentum of typical Accra ‘Phobia’ side. The Phobians have not lost a game against the Eleven Is To One since their promotion to the Ghana first division football.

After Richard Kingston’s impressive performance last week against Liberty Professionals, Great Olympics have a safe pair of hands to guard the back of their net. Their win on match day eleven could serve a spring board when they host Kwasi Nyantakyi’s Wa All Stars who are sixth on the league table at the Accra sports Stadium.

Aduana Stars lost their second position to Hearts of Lions on Matchday eleven after a 2-1 defeat to WAFA in Sogakope. To get their title chances back on track, they will have to do it the hard way against wounded Berekum Chelsea

Berekum Chelsea have lost 18 points for failure to meet the FA’s deadline to pay WAFA about $59,000, their share in the transfer of Solomon Asante to TP Mazembe. And currently occupying the last position on the table, Berekum Chelsea will give Aduana Stars a good run for their money in Dormaa.

Hasaacas will have a tough afternoon containing a WAFA side who play swift and quick passing football at the Essipong Sports Stadium.
