The First Capital Premier league returns this weekend with some mouthwatering clashes at various league centers.sportscrusader.combrings you a preview of the fixtures.
New Edubiase vs Bechem United
Fresh from a 3-0 drubbing by Medeama SC in match day 11 of the First Capital Plus premier league, New Edubiase FC turn their attention to Bechem United who were also beaten 3-1 at their own backyard by a revitalized Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Three points separate both sides going into this fixture and all 3 points will do both teams a great good.
Edubiase, who are currently flirting with relegation being 14th on the league log with 13 points gathered from a possible 33, will entertain Bechem United who sit 9th with 16 points.
This fixture is to be taken seriously by both teams if they are to boost their chances of surviving this season.
Fresh from being named Player of the Month for February in the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League, 19 year old Noah Martey will be hoping to show off his award with a dazzling display to enforce his credentials.
Hasaacas vs WAFA
In Sekondi, 13th placed Hasaacas will be entertaining WAFA who sit 4th on the league log with 18 points.
After a good start to this year’s league, the fortunes of Sekondi Hasaacas has gone downhill as they have won only one of their last 6 matches, conceding 9 goals and scoring only 4 goals in the process.
WAFA on the other hand seem to be enjoying good fortune having lost only once in their last 9 matches.
WAFA coach John Killa recently named First Capital Plus Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month (February) will be applying his tactics which has seen WAFA being hailed by all neutrals and football lovers alike.
This game promises to be very entertaining with good football expected to be displayed by both sides.
Lions vs Medeama
Kpando will be the venue to host the tricky fixture between Hearts of Lions and Medeama SC.
Lions seem to be enjoying good fortune as they got 3 points from their last fixture though they lost 1-0 to Berekum Chelsea. Medeama SC however go into this fixture on the back of a morale-boosting 3-0 victory over Edubiase.
Kpando has always been a tricky venue for most teams in the league as Lions are yet to lose a game at home all season. Medeama on the other hand are yet to win an away match this season.
Aduana Stars vs Berekum Chelsea
All attention will be on the regional derby at Dormaa as Aduana stars host Berekum Chelsea. Aduana Stars who are currently 3rd on the league log will pitch their strength against bottom placed Chelsea.
After being hit hard with points deduction by the FA Disciplinary Committee (DC) on their indebtedness to WAFA, Chelsea will be seeking to reorganise themselves amid rumours that they might pull out of the league.
Though they won their last match 1-0 against Hearts of Lions, they lost the 3 points by the decision of the DC.
Dormaa does not seem to be a happy hunting ground for all the premier league teams who have visited the grounds so far as no team has scored a goal this season.
Every team that visits the Dormaa based team comes unstuck as they always lose by the same margin, 1-0. It will be interesting to see if a different score line can be registered at the ground apart from the ever present 1-0 score line that is always recorded.
Will Chelsea overcome the dark clouds circling them and pull off a shock? Guess we will have to be at the stadium to catch all the action in this action-packed fixture.
BA United vs AshGold
BA United will be welcoming league leaders, AshGold to the Sunyani Coronation Park in a match that promises to hand over all the three poibts to the league leaders.
Having struggled to lift themselves out of the relegation zone amidst match betting allegations by immediate past coach, Gargo Mohammed, it will be miraculous to see the Sunyani based aide winning the game against the re-energized AshantiGold.
Having lost only two matches in the campaign so far, AshantiGold will be approaching the game with all the confidence of pickung the three maximum points at stake.
Will the Apostles of power soccer be able to pull a surprise against the Aboakese lads?
Inter Allies vs Hearts
The ‘Paul of Ghana Football’ as I choose to call them, Inter Allies will be welcoming the Fiamenyo-led Accra Hearts of Oak to the Tema Park in a game.which promises to be very entertaining.
Placed 12th on the table with 15 points, the Phobians will be looking forward to winning their second away game of the season after their match day 6 win over rival Asante Kotoko.
But will the Tema based outfit entertain that?
Intet Allies have so far enjoyed a very good season having won 5 matches with 4 losses and 2 draws.
The goal concession rate of the Phobians is as equal as their scoring rate. Will Inter Allies capitalize on the leaky defense of the Phobians or the Rainbow boys will break through the best defense of the league so far with their goal scoring lord, Gilbert Fiamenyo?
Kotoko vs Liberty
The technical leadership of David Duncan seems to have motivated the fabulous boys, leading them to a 3-1 win over Bechem United last week.
A well motivated Asante Kotoko side is obviously a big task for Liberty Professionals to overcome but who knows what George Lamptey and his boys have under their sleeves?
With 4 wins, 4 losses and 3 draws, Liberty Professionals may pull a surprise at the Baba Yara Sports Sradium should the Duncan factor fail.
With the 3rd best defense in the league so far, Asante Kotoko have conceded 8 goals out of the 11 matches played so far, scoring 10 (technically 13 because of the points from Chelsea).
With the spirit of Kotoko coming back from their goalless draw game against MC El Eulma and their 3-1 win away over Bechem United, Liberty Professionals seems to have asked for a good opposition at the wrong time.
Olympics vs Wa All Stars
Beating Liberty Professionals by a lone goal at the Dansoman Park wad something a lot of people did not expect.
The motivation for that win could however be attributed to the inclusion of Richard Olele Kingston and Gordwin Attram.
Wa All Stars might have had a good season so far but the attacking machinery of Olympics, led by Francis Attoquaye, which has seen them scoring 15 goals, will obviously pose a huge threat to the most traveled club in the history of Ghana football, Wa All Stars, who have conceded 9 goals in 11 matches.
Having conceded 14 goals out of 11 matches, the goal concession rate of Olympics could have given the Wa based side some motivation, but Olele is likely to inject the sticks with some solidity as he is yet to concede a goal in the league after taking the post.
Will Olele, Attram and Dan Quaye continue their exploits or Wa All Stars will pull a surprise?
