‘You played well’: ‘Legend’ Michael Essien anoints Godfred Donsah

Godfred Donsah has revealed his excitement at fulfilled dreams following game time against Michael Essien in the Italian Serie A last weekend.

Donsah played all 90 minutes for struggling Cagliari in their loss to AC Milan at the San Siro on Saturday whilst Essien only came on for the final two minutes plus added time whereas Sulley Ali Muntari was a complete benchwarmer all game long.

18 year old Donsah has been labelled the ‘New Essien’ following his strong and impressive box-to-box displays for Cagliari this term, the teenage sensation racking in two goals in 17 Serie A appearances.

He returned from a 3-week injury enforced layoff to man the midfield again for the first time under returnee coach, Zdenek Zeman, the man who signed him to Cagliari last summer.

And once again, Donsah was at his swashbuckling best even against some of the best players in the Italian league, but the youngster was particularly pleased with the appearance of the man he calls his mentor.

“On meeting with Michael Essien the Bison at the San Siro which we lost 3-1 was my second time playing with the legend on the same pitch,” Donsah told Allsports.com.gh exclusively.

“It was good and felt like wow a dream come true after having a handshake and a jersey again, he motivated me saying ‘you played well,'” the 18 year old wonder kid added.

Donsah later also posted the photo of himself in a pose with the AC Milan shirt he got from Michael Essien:
