Below par: Hearts of Oak performance not acceptable – Joe Addo

Corporate Affairs Manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, Joe Addo has said that the performance of the club so far in the first round of the First Capital Plus Bank premier league is not acceptable.

Accra Hearts of Oak are currently  occupying the 12th position with four matches to end the first round of the season,  and Addo believes the position is not good for a club like Accra Hearts of Oak who should be at the summit competing for the ultimate crown.

“Normally, when a new season begins, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are always at the top competing; which makes the league exciting,” the former Black Stars defender told Happy FM.

“Unfortunately, this year is different. A lot of different factors contributed to this: we had a new coach; the new coach also came with new players and had to merge them with the old players to make the team stable.

“On top of that too, the delay in the start of the league also made preparation toward the beginning of the season difficult – combine these factors and I think it is responsible for the current positions of Hearts and Kotoko on the log.

“But if you’ve watched the last seven games Hearts of Oak have played, we’ve not lost a match; the worst is a draw including the CAF Confederation Cup match (against Olympic de Ngor); so I think right now, the momentum is coming.

“The boys are gelling well so I’m hopeful that by the end of the first round, we will move up the table. The current position is not acceptable for our fans and for Hearts of Oak fraternity regardless of what has happened for us to be where we are,  I cannot give any excuse for that;  is not even warranted,” he stated.
