Not good enough: No Ghanaian club in CAF top 30

No club from Ghana was named in the list of Africa’s top 30, the latest ranking by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed.

Based on performances in CAF organised continental tournaments, there was no place for clubs from Ghana, none of which have made it beyond the preliminary rounds in neither the CAF Champions’ League or Confederation Cup since Berekum Chelsea’s group stage heroics in 2011.

Egyptian giants and record winners of the CAF’s flagship African Champions’ League sit atop the rankings by more than 600 points from second placed, Esperance du Tunis with DR Congo giants, TP Mazembe competing the top 3.

A total of 14 countries have clubs in the list of top 30 clubs in Africa with Tunisia boasting the largest representatives with five and Morocco with four clubs.

Nigeria and Egypt had three countries each while DR Congo, Sudan, Mali, Algeria and Ivory Coast have two each with Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Libya all have one club each.
