Freddie Blay, publisher of the DAILY GUIDE, has reposed confidence in the ability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) to return Nigeria to the path of progress and prosperity.
His remarks come ahead of this weekend’s presidential polls in Africa’s most populous country, which he made when he received the leadership of Ghana’s Chapter of the APC at the offices of Western Publications Limited, publishers of DAILY GUIDE, last Monday.
‘Nigeria, a twin sister of Ghana, needs the freshness of a Buhari presidency to turn things around for the OPEC country,’ he said in a palpable endorsement of Buhari’s bid to become the leader of Nigeria.
‘We are seeing the approaching change in Nigeria. We think that Buhari is incorruptible. We are convinced that change will happen in Nigeria. We need peace and prosperity. We need a character like Buhari to make that possible,’ he stressed.
The two countries – Ghana and Nigeria – he noted, share similar developments politically and others. ‘A change in Nigeria could trigger a similar trend in Ghana,’ he added.
According to Hon. Freddie Blay, Ghana and Nigeria need refreshing changes so that their people can experience improved lives and national prosperity. Reacting to those who say Buhari is an old man – a similar fate suffered by Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for election 2016 – Mr Blay said, ‘We prefer an old man of temperate constitution, who fosters unity and moderate, to someone who exhibits the opposite of these attributes.’
The Chairman of the APC Ghana Chapter, Charles Micheletti, expressed gratitude to the management of Western Publications Limited for what he described as the consistent coverage of their party’s activities since General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) became the presidential candidate of the party.
Ghana, he said, is a place where he and his colleagues have businesses and homes. He thanked the authorities for making it possible for them to continue to live and work here without inhibitions.
‘The Chapter intends to undertake a tour of some parts of the country, having done so for others already,’ he announced.
Mr Micheletti extolled good qualities of the APC and how it would turn the fortunes of Nigeria around when General Buhari is sworn in as president.
Others in the delegation were Elder Nnamdi Okogbue Chima C. Chima, Deputy Propaganda Secretary; Miss Abibatu Tayese, Women Organiser and Ibrahim Saeed, Welfare Officer.
Mr. Chima observed that Ghana is a leading country in the West African sub-region.
He lamented the state in which Nigeria is now, having been ravaged by corruption and pointing at the recent loss of some $20 million being oil money.
‘We can’t continue like that. There must be a change. Only the APC can change the trend,’ he emphasized.
