Best in Ghana: Noah Martey named GPL Player of the month

The PLB Judging Panel has named Bechem United midfielder Noah Martey as Player of the Month for February in the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League.

The 19-year-old scored a total of six goals in the month, setting the record as the only player to score in five consecutive matches.

He managed to score three away goals and scored in each of the three home games in February.

Martey will receive a prize of 500 Ghana Cedis from the league’s title sponsor, First Capital Plus Bank.

The defensive midfielder was strangely dropped by Coach Sellas Tetteh from the BlacK Satellites squad which claimed bronze at the just ended Africa Youth championships in Senegal.

Martey is currently in camp with the Local Black Stars who play Namibia in an international friendly at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Wednesday afternoon.

“I have no doubt who the best player in Premier League is – it’s Noah Martey,” the player’s agent, Oliver Arthur said even before February.

“Why? Because he has been unbelievable this season, scoring goals from the defensive midfield position and delivering exceptional performances week-in-week-out. I think he deserves even a call-up to the Black Stars soon,” Agent Arthur explained.
