8th PUSAG Games Opens With A Bang Today

The Eighth Edition of the annual Private Universities’ Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) Sports and Entertainment Festival, will start today, March 25, to Friday March 27 at the Paa Joe stadium of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.

The event is under the theme: “Shifting the paradigm towards tertiary sports development”.

Mr. Mohammed Adams Sakpuru, PUSAG President, told media in kumasi on Tuesday that 32 accredited private universities across the country are participating in the event.

He said disciplines to be competed in are soccer, basketball, volleyball, track events, tennis, handball and swimming.

Mr. Adams Sakpuru explained that the aim of the Sports and Entertainment Festival is to discover talents and strengthen comradeship among students.

He express hispleasure with the level of preparation, stressing that he was “confident of hosting a successful event”.

“I’m really impressed with support from member institutions. It’s the Eight Edition and the first time Kumasi is hosting the event, we expect to see an exciting game with plenty skills. I am optimistic it will be a success,” said PUSAG President.

He entreated students to participant in sports disciplines saying ‘Sports is a major employer and we always encourage our students to exploit their potentials’.

Private Universities that will be participating in the championships are: Pentecost University College, Islamic University College, University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies, Catholic University College, Valley View University, Kaaf University College, Zenith University College, Ashesi University College, Central University College.

Spiritan University College, Evangelical Presbyterian University College, Pan-Africa Christian University College, Christian Service University College, Knutsford University College, kings University College, Presbyterian University College,Radford University College.

Others are All Nations University College, Garden City University College, Maranatha University College, Central University College, Regent University College, Wisconsin University College, Ghana Baptist University College, Methodist University College, and Datalink University College among others.
