In-form Hearts of Oak burly striker, Gilbert Fiamenyo says the secret behind his sensational form this season is his weight. According to him he uses his weight to his advantage in powering down defenders.
The former Heart of Lions hit-man who joined the Phobians three seasons ago has been in superb shape in the ongoing First Capital Plus Bank Premier League, he is currently leading the goal-king chart with 8 goals in 11 games and also provided 4 assists.
‘I’m a big striker which I’m still shedding off some weight; but this season one of the secrets behind my form is my weight, it has helped me a lot in powering down defenders and it is my weapon this season. Because of my stature, in every game we have played I took the decision to operate my striking role from the flanks and it has positively helped me a lot by creating spaces at the opponent goal area to score,’ Gilbert Fiamenyo told Allsports.com.gh in an exclusive interview.
The budding striker admitted that there has been intense pressure on him and the team to deliver because of the impatient attitude of the Hearts of Oak fans.
‘I do understand the frustrations from Hearts of Oak fans, they want their club to win trophies and also to do well in the league so in every game we have played there have been a lot of pressure on me to deliver and the team as a whole; which for me in some way is helping the progress of the team and our target is to pay the fans the confidence they have in the playing body,’ he said.
