Kidnappers of the Emir of Bukkuyum in Zamfara State, Alhaji Mohammed Usman, have demanded for a ransom of N10 million.

The second class emir was, Friday, kidnapped at a mosque close to the palace, where he had gone to observe Magrib prayers.

According to one of his wives, who spoke with newsmen, family members spoke with the emir. She confirmed the traditional ruler was in good health.

The Nigerian Tribune also quoted a ‘reliable source at the emirate council’ to have said that the kidnappers demanded for N10 million ransom.

A Honda Civic which was used in kidnapping the monarch was set ablaze by the kidnappers. “The burnt car was later discovered in a bush path, indicating that the monarch must have been conveyed on a motorcycle,” the source added.
