Political science lecturer has expressed shock at the lack of public show of support for former Attorney-General as he takes on the Presidency, Justice Minister and an NDC financier single-handedly with devastating results.
‘We intend to organize something to get some money whatever to show that there are some people in this country who support what he has done’, Dr. Richard Amoako- Baah said on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Monday.
According to the Head of Political Science department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), he believes Ghanaians owe a debt of gratitude to the dismissed Attorney-General for securing important legal victories that will save the country ₵51.2million.
‘The whole country, the rest of us not in the administration, ought to be ashamed of ourselves to sit quietly and let such a man go through what he is going through without any support’, Amoako- Baah noted.
‘There has to be some kind of show of support for this man because he is a true hero of this country. He is the one fighting for us and we don’t do anything as if he is in some kind of private fight against a whole government. How can we do that?’, the lecturer continued.
Martin Amidu described as ‘citizen vigilante’ is the reason why businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome will have to cough up ₵51.2million after a High Court declared that the payment of the amount as judgement debt to Woyome was illegal.
Martin Amidu did this in his private capacity while the Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General stood still.
His escapades were not without cost.
‘In spite of the enormous financial expenses and problems I faced dealing with the service of the Writ on Austro-Invest and the eventual discovery that Lithur Brew and Co were aiding Ray Smith of Austro-Invest’ he wrote soon after a High Court set Woyome free.

Martin Amidu has since 2012 grown to become a public authenticator of statements and actions of government officials concerning the Woyome saga that is still dragging on since it broke in 2009.
He came out to doubt Attorney-General’s sincerity in appealing against a High Court ruling that set Woyome free of any criminal conduct in obtaining the said amount claimed to be capable of hiring over 3,000 more nurses. He has said the A-G Marrietta Oppong-Brew’s former firm Lithur and Brew, work for a firm, Austro-Invest, that benefitted from the Woyome cash
‘The perception I have come away with in my handling of the Constitutional cases against the Attorney General, Waterville, and Woyome/Austro-Invest is that the John Dramani Mahama NDC Government under its Attorney General, Mrs. Brew Appiah-Oppong has at every step done everything in its power to impede the success of the cases.
‘I had made it clear to the Mills/Mahama Government as its Attorney General that no prosecution in the scam involving the over GH₵51million will succeed by targeting Woyome alone without Waterville, Austro-Invest…’, a damning statement of Martin Amidu read.
He has said the cause to prosecute Woyome and all those involved including another former Attorney-General Betty Mould is the reason why he was sacked from government.
Raising question about why government can claim commitment in fighting corruption after firing a government official known to be fighting the same matter of corruption.
Of late, Martin Amidu has linked Attorney-General’s former law firm Lithur and Brew to Austro-Invest. He maintains that the Attorney-General Marrietta Oppong-Brew cannot unravel the Woyome saga without taking on Austro-Invest, a company which was her firm’s client.
He has also dismissed comments by former Security coordinator who publicly maintained that Martin Amidu was dismissed for misconduct and not for trying to prosecute Betty Mould or Woyome.
Martin Amidu has sought to portray Col ( rtd ) Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, a dismissed National Security coordinator as a man seeking to win political favour by pretending to be a know-it-all in the Woyome saga.
He has also revealed that Gbevlo-Lartey raided his home without any court warrant on the eve of the December 2012 General Elections.
Dr. Amoako Baah is questioning the safety of ordinary Ghanaians if a National Security Coordinator could act with brazen lawlessness.
‘If he as former attorney general if they can do this to him, who is safe? The lecturer said.
