A double strike from Gilbert Fiamenyo helped Hearts of Oak to beat struggling BA utd 2-0 at the Accra sports stadium on match day 11 of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League on Sunday.
Hearts of Oak from onset dominated play with a lot swift passing football but the resolute defense network of BA utd kept the striking trio of the Phobians at bay. The away side also came to the party as they pinched the home side midfield but they failed to hit the back of the net.
The intense pressure from the Phobians yielded dividend in the 37 minute when Gilbert Fiamenyo headed home Isaac Oduro diagonal free-kick from the left side of BA utd defense. 4 minutes later the Phobians nearly doubled their lead but Togolese import Foovi Aguidi miscue strike landed into the waiting hands of Lawrence Osei in post for the away side.
Back from recess, the Phobians began the game as the strongest searching for their second goal but BA utd defense marshaled their backline very well as they dealt with Fiamenyo’s treat.
Gilbert Fiamenyo in the 70 minute mark had the opportunity to struck his brace but he failed to hit the back of the net, the burly striker 5 minutes later had another chance but he lifted the ball over bar.
BA utd also had some decent chances in the game but they failed to direct the ball into the net of the home side as in some occasions Hearts of Oak defense looks jittery whenever the away put pressure on them.
However, 3 minutes to full time, the Phobians put the game beyond the reach of the Apostles of power soccer when Gilbert Fiamenyo headed home his second goal of the day from Isaac Oduro exquisitely free kick. BA utd failed to respond as the game was brought to an end with the Phobians picking all the 3 maximum points.
