A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, on Sunday denied speculations that he had defected to the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Mr. Bankole, a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, debunked the rumor through his media aide, Omodu Morgan.
“I have not defected to Social Democratic Party, SDP, as speculated and reported in some media.
“The report contains no iota of truth. I am still a member of Board of Trustees, BOT, and National Executive Council member of Peoples Democratic Party”, Mr. Bankole said.
The ex-speaker was rumoured to have dumped the Ogun PDP after losing out in his bid to clinch the party’s governorship ticket.
“I remain committed to my party, Peoples Democratic Party. I have no grudges against anybody and I remain a loyal party member and I have to repeat again, I have not defected to SDP or any other party”, he said.
