Why Avram dropped Asamoah Gyan from 22-man friendly list

Avram Grant has named his squad for the upcoming friendly games for the senior national team but has excluded Asamoah Gyan.

Tongues wagged at the news but the Israeli has left out the captain for good reason.

The Al Ain striker will get the chance to recuperate as he continues to recover from an injury sustained while on club duty.

Ghana plays Senegal and Mali at the end of this month in France.

As Joy Sports hinted in the past week, Tunisia based midfielder Seidu Salifu makes an entry as does former youth star Ebenezer Assiffuah. Those aside, most of the Afcon 2015 squad keep their places.

The Black Stars will play Senegal in their first friendly game on March 28 before taking on Mali three days later, with camping starting on Monday.
