GPL preview: AshGold wants to keep marching on

With the hiatus in the First Capital Plus Bank premier league for the two most glamorous clubs in the history of Ghana football, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak to take part in the CAF inter – club football competitions, the Champions League and the Confederation Cup respectively, the Ghana Premier League is back this weekend at eight league centres.ย

Ashanti Gold have a three-point cushion at theย top of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League table, and willย attempt to extend their lead over Aduana Stars who are on their heels. Bashir Hayford will want to put things right against Hasaacas after the defeatย in Dormaa to second place Aduana Stars left them with only three points to boast with.ย

Coming from a 1-0 defeat against Aduana Stars on Match day ten away from home,ย Ash Goldย will be determined to get their title charge back on track at home to Hasaacas who have proven a hard nut to crack soย far this season.ย

Aduana Stars will lock horns with West Africa Football Academy, WAFA, who have not looked back since their first league win of the season against Great Olympics. They’ve been very impressive, and have chocked successes over the likes of Medeama SC. Though Aduana were hit with a court case, they’ve not looked back and are on course for a second premier league title in five years. At home, WAFA have made the Sogakope Park a fortress, and Medeama SC will have to dig deep to get a respectable result.ย

At the Accra sports Stadium, Accra Hearts of Oakย will be seeking for a good result to keep climbing the First Capital Plus Bank premier league log against Brong Ahafo United who have been hit by internal wrangling and alleged match-fixing. Herbert Addo will want to exploit their off field rancour and compound their misery.

After drawing one-all on match week ten against Medeama SC, Defending Champions, Asante Kotoko will travel to Bechem to take on Bechem United, who have been on and off in first half of the season.ย

The Porcupine Warriors who have not won a Premier League match since January 30 will be looking to return to winning ways with new coach David Duncan who signed a two year deal with the Garden City club. Will the presence of Duncan at the dugout finally draw Kotoko out of their misery?ย

Elsewhere, relegation threatened New Edubiase will travel to the T and A Park to face Medeama SC. With their star-man Assiedu Attobrah on international duty with the Black Satellites of Ghana, Edubiase have struggled to make their presence felt in the league so far.ย

With disciplinary action being taken against Berekum Chelsea for failure to pay monies to WAFA within a stipulated time of two weeks for the transfer of Solomon Asante, the fear of losing points gained since February will spur Chelsea on to fight till the last drop of their blood against Hearts of Lions.ย

Lions picked up from where they left off last season, and will make things difficult for a Berekum Chelsea who are yet to find their rhythm after ten matches.ย

Other fixtures:
Wa All Stars v Inter Allies
Liberty vsย Olympics
