GPL preview and statistics: Inspired Kotoko to test Bechems home invincibility

Team news and current form
Bechem United are one of the clubs with an incredible home record this season, having won 4 and drawn 1 of their five games at the Bechem Park.

Asante Kotoko have gone 6 consecutive league games without a victory (L2, D4), however they have benefited from board room points after Berekum Chelsea were declared losers of their one all draw against the league champions at the Golden City Park, in addition to other host of matches for failing to pay monies owed WAFA within the stipulated time.

Bechem United are lying comfortably on the 5 position, with 16 points in 10 league games.

The Porcupine Warriors have now jumped from the 14 position to the 10 on the league  log, after enjoying  2 additional points from Chelsea’s game,

The Porcupine are highly motivated for this game, after they officially reached a 2-year deal with David Duncan and subsequently unveiled him on Thursday.

Many Kotoko faithful see the former Hearts of Oak coach as the Messiah to relieve them from their current predicament in terms of poor run in the league.

Noah Martey is the leading top scorer for Bechem United with 5 goals to his credit in the current season, while Ahmed Toure has scored 3 premier league goals for Kotoko, making him their top scorer in the league.

David Duncan lead Kotoko for his first league game in charge, following a famous away draw in far away Algeria in the CAF Champions League, which was his first test though it was unofficial, because he was yet to sign a deal with the club.

Bechem United’s last game was a 2-3 loss to Liberty at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park, however they managed to whip Olympics by 2 unanswered goals in their last game at home.

Head to head
-Bechem have managed a win in four games, with the three others going Kotoko’s way.

-The league champions were handed their first league defeat last season at the Bechem Park on match day 7.

-Bechem United’s debut season in the league was 2011/12 and they selected the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi as their home ground at the initial stages and Kotoko capitalized on that to secure an away victory, however their only game at the Bechem Park which took place last season went in favour of the home team.
