Many football players even in their mid-fifties still look youthful and very much more enthused and active as compared to men who are even in their thirties.
The reason is not that footballers intentionally slow down their growth rate but rather it is an inadvertent advantage derived from engaging in sports and other daily body exercise.
The benefit derived from engaging in the game of soccer such as increase muscular strength, cardiovascular health, improves flexibility and physical fitness all give a clue to why footballers look youthful even in their old age.
In Ghana, clear examples of such footballers are Tony Yeboah, Steven Appiah, John Mensah, , Laryea Kingston, John Paintsil and a few others.
All these players who have once graced the field for the Ghana National Team, The Black Stars and other foreign football clubs are in their thirties now and even some are in their early forties but they still look very much youthful.
A critical look at John Paintsil, in his recent photos, the former Santos FC player is now 33years old but looks very young and energetic even more than before. In other photos, John revealed his well-built 6 packs which are apparently trending in the galleries most admired ladies in Ghana and other outside countries.
He was a member of the Ghanaian 2010 FIFA World Cup team that reached the quarter-finals in South Africa before losing to Uruguay. He played in all five games. On 13th June 2010, in a World Cup group-stage match against Serbia, another variation of his name appeared on his jersey
Asides his massive contribution in the 2010 world Cup season and 12 years consistence appearance in the black stars team, he has also contributed tremendously to other football clubs overseas; John played for Maccabi Tel Avi FC, West Ham United FC, Fulham FC, Leicester City FC, Santos and in 9th June, 2014 John joined Maritzburg United on a 2 years contract after his contract with Santos expired.
In a conversation with John, the well-known former right back Black Stars player said he is 33years old but still looks young, active and very productive on the field.
He advised that regular body exercise helps to keep one’s body stature in check and provides a healthy immune system.
