Role model: ‘I want to be like Marcelo’ – Hearts of Oak’s Shaun October

Hearts of Oak’s South Africa import, Shaun October Mason has eulogized the qualities of Real Madrid star and Brazilian defender, Marcelo.

The South African who joined the Phobians on a 3 year deal from South African second-tier side, Santos has been superb in the ongoing season for the capital based club which has made him one of the outstanding players in the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League.

Shaun October who turned 25 years last Tuesday in an exclusive interview with Allsports.com.gh, says his football mentor is Real Madrid star Marcelo and want to walk in his foot in order to be like him.

‘Marcelo is a great player and I want to be like him,’ Shaun October said.

‘He possesses a lot of qualities, he can tackle very well and has good hindsight in reading the situation whenever he is under pressure; which for me he is the best left back currently in the world,’ he said.

Shaun October noted that there is no difference between him and Marcelo because he believes he possesses the same football qualities as him.

‘There is no difference between my play and Marcelo, we have the same qualities which is dribbling skills, very good in surging forward and very good in set pieces but the only difference is he plays for Real Madrid, which is one of the biggest club in Europe and I also play for Hearts of Oak one of the biggest club in Africa.
