World class South African musician Yvonne Chaka Chaka has joined other renowned musicians who will be performing at the 16 th edition of Cape Town Jazz Festival in South Africa.
The festival, organised by espAfrika, will take place at Cape Town International Convention Centre on March 27 and 28 with an impressive star-studded line up of musicians.
Among them are Amel Larrieux (USA), Basia Trzetrzelewska (UK/Poland), Claude Cozens Trio (SA), Dirty Loops (Sweden), Gerald Clayton Trio (USA), Delft Big Band (SA) and a host of other top performers.
The phenomenal Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who is popularly called the ‘Princess of Africa’, is also making up the list.
She will be performing some of her favourite songs from her repertoire to festival audience, including Ghanaian journalists who will be attending the ceremony.
Yvonne is a multi award winning performing artist, entrepreneur, and humanitarian.
Her music awards include Sama, Kora, OKTV, Autumn Harvest, and a host of others for musical excellence, which have translated into numerous platinum, gold and silver hit records.
Yvonne has been in the music industry for more than 25 years. She has shared the stage with mega stars such as Bono, Angelique Kidjo, Annie Lennox, Youssou N’Dour, the classic rock band queen, and South Africans Johnny Clegg, Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela, among others. As a young performer, Yvonne was the first black child to appear on South African television in 1981.
Since then she has consistently developed her creative abilities and expanded her media repertoire to include music, record production, talk radio and television shows. She has also featured in several South African television dramas.
As an entrepreneur and businesswoman, Yvonne is holding the torch high for women everywhere. She has formed her own promotions company, record label and foundation. She also sits on the boards of several companies. Her philosophy is to live life to the fullest, which she conveys in everything she does.
