First Dutch Business and Education Fair opens next week


Accra, March 19, GNA – The first Dutch Business & Education Fair is to be held next week at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Accra to promote Dutch Higher Education and Knowledge exchange in Ghana.

The two-day fair running from March 25 till 26, 2015, would also seek to bring the business community and the knowledge institutes on the same platform to interact and develop effective collaborations leading to both private and public sector development.

The Netherlands is known for its unique and diverse study programmes and teaching methodologies.

A statement from the Embassy said the aim of this fair is to give Ghanaian students and Knowledge Institutions, the opportunity to interact and tap into Dutch higher education and knowledge exchange options.

‘This is necessary since many businesses benefit from the research work of knowledge institutions, obtain capacity building needs as well as human resources from knowledge institutions of which Dutch Universities have played a key role in Ghana over the years,’ the statement said.

The Dutch Universities participating in the fair are the University of Groningen, Maastricht University, University of Leiden and International Institute of Social Studies (Erasmus).

Others are Erasmus University Rotterdam, Wageningen University, KIT-The Royal Tropical Institute and UNESCO-IHE Institute of Water Education.

The rest are Holland Consortium of Applied Science Universities, Windesheim University College and PXL University College.

The statement said Businesses, Organisations and mid-career professionals can also benefit from Dutch government assisted education programmes like, Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP), The Tailor Made Training (TMT), and The Netherlands Initiative for Capacity Development in Higher Education (NICHE), which would be highlighted during the fair.

Growing businesses and knowledge exchange are undoubtedly the driving force for development, the statement added.

The theme for the event is ‘Holland, Ghana Growing Together.’
