Promotion chase: Bright Addae eyes win at Pontedera tonight

Bright Addae is confident his club, Ascoli Picchio will overcome the challenges of other clubs to emerge champions in Lega Pro B to gain automatic qualification come end of season.

Addae’s side which have led the second section of Italy’s third tier league for over four months, saw their lead atop the standings cut to two points at the weekend after only managing a 2-2 draw at 12th placed Gubbio much to the advantage of second placed Teramo who posted a 2-0 home win over Pistoiese the same day.

But Addae believes Ascoli will bounce back when they travel again tonight to face 5th placed Pontedera who themselves are smarting from a resounding 4-0 win on the road to Prato on Saturday for their first win in 3 matches.

Addae however insists Ascoli will be too strong for the hosts at the Stadio Ettore Mannucci on Wednesday night.

“We are playing this evening and I expect us to win event though it’s away, no games are easy in this league but I’m sure my teammates will rise to the occasion and we will take all three points home,” the 22 year old told via phone from his Italy base.

The title race is set to go down to the wire with Teramo hosting Ascoli on the last match day of the 2013/14 campaign on May 9 and Addae insists his side will be ready to be crowned champions at the home of their title rivals.

“They have tough matches coming up, ours too will be tough but not like their matches so I know they cannot challenge us for the league trophy,” Addae said full of confidence.

“We have the decider against them on the last day so we are not afraid, we’ll win the league. It’s a decider so how can we be afraid? We’ll match them boot for boot,” the 2009 U-20 World Cup winner echoed.

But Addae is not getting ahead of himself knowing that there are still 8 more games to go before that fateful day at the Stadio Gaetano Bonolis  in Teramo.

“We want to win the league and I can’t wait for that last match but we have other matches coming we have to keep winning. It’s match by match so let’s finish this game, it’s what all my focus is on,” Addae rounded up our exclusive chat. Follow @thedonplato
