The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has presented 100 pieces of ‘Tap to Educate Tablets’ to Junior High Schools (JHS) in his constituency.
The nicely made tablet is a powerful educational tool for JHS students. It contains all the books, syllabus and test questions. It also has space for its user to download books for further learning.
The Manhyia South MP, who is known in political circles as ‘Napo,’ used GETFund to purchase the educational tools. One of the tablets costs a staggering GH¢400.
Each of the 14 Junior High Schools in the Manhyia South Constituency, including KO Methodist, Konadu Yiadom JHS, Roman Girls, Dichemso MA JHS and St Louis Demonstration, just to mention a few, were given some of the tablets.
Some selected brilliant students of the beneficiary schools, who are in their final year, will be given the tablets to help in their studies.
ICT teachers and headmasters of the schools will also receive some of the tablets.
Significantly, Manhyia South JHS students are the first students in the country to benefit from such a powerful educational tool which will make learning interesting and smooth for them.
Dr Prempeh, who is passionate about the development of education in his area, also presented 360 exercise books to each of the 14 schools in his constituency, with funding from Common Fund.
The Manhyia South MP had previously resourced the schools in his constituency with computers, laptops, furniture and sponsorship for brilliant but needy students. This was aimed at making education flourish in the area.
Speaking during the presentation of the tablets, Dr Prempeh charged students in his constituency to make good use of the tablets so that they could pass their examinations with distinction.
He said it was his dream that education would improve throughout his constituency so that the youth in the area would become influential people in future, noting that it was his wish that every student in the constituency would get the tablet soon.
