Newcastle in pole position to sign Ghana’s Andre Ayew despite interest from SEVEN clubs

English side Newcastle are in the pole position to snatch in-demand Ghana winger Andre Ayew despite interest from rival Arsenal and Liverpool and several other clubs in the top leagues of Europe.

It is thought that German sides Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg could also offer deals to the player, while the Italian clubs AC Milan, Inter and Roma could yet swoop for a bargain deal.

The Marseille winger is out of contract at the end of the current season and the French club have accepted that they have lost the battle to keep him at the club.

Ayew is set to be offered a contract with Newcastle at the end of the season, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

The Ghanaian international is reportedly set to be leaving Ligue 1 outfit when his deal expires in the summer and the Magpies are understood to have offered the midfielder a pre-contract in a bid to fend off interest from Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.

Ayew played a starring role at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, winning the golden boot with three goals which helped Ghana reach the final, but was ultimately unable to prevent his nation from unfortunately losing on penalties to Ivory Coast.

After joining Marseille as a youngster in 2005, he made his professional debut in August 2007 and has on to make over 150 appearances for the club scoring 56 goals in the process.

This season, Ayew had scored seven in 21 appearances in all competitions for Marseille as they look to win their first Ligue 1 title since 2010.
