My mission is simple: I am not here to out shine Ayariga New Sports Minister

Newly appointed Minister for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Dr. Mustapha Ahmed says his mission at the Sports Ministry is not to out shine his predecessor.

According to him, his first priority will be to carry out and deliver the plans and vision of President John Mahama for the ministry and not to seek to ‘do better than his predecessors’.

‘The President’s vision and directions are what we (the newly appointed ministers) will work with,’ he told Accra based Asempa FM in an interview.

Speaking shortly after his appointment as Sports Minister, Dr. Ahmed noted that he will need the support and help of everyone in the sports fraternity.

He also said that he is ready to listen to divergent views from anyone.

In a statement signed by Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed was reassigned to the head the Youth and Sports ministry. He was a Minister of State at the Presidency.

Mahama Ayariga however, has also been reassigned to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology.
