Barefoot Power opens office in Ghana


Accra, March 16, GNA – Barefoot Power Africa Limited, a business organization that assists people in developing countries to access affordable renewable energy, has opened its Ghana office to serve clients with energy efficient solar systems.

The opening was also to launch new solar devices that would provide solar energy to people.

Mr Jackson Machuhi, the Chief Executive Officer Barefoot Power Africa, said this was to focus on providing affordable lighting and phone charging products specifically for low income populations and Ghanaians that did not have access to electricity.

‘We believe that energy access is one of the key building blocks of economic development and the first step to alleviate energy poverty. Thus our first area of focus is on the most basic need for clean and affordable lighting,’ he said.

Mr Machuhi said in achieving this, they had designed, manufactured and distributed micro-solar lighting and phone charging products that had been designed to target communities in developing countries.

This, he said, would help would help people break their dependence on inefficient, expensive and harmful light sources by giving them cleaner and cheaper options.

He said the organization had introduced the Barefoot Firefly, Connect 600, Connect 3000, Go 250, Connect Charge and Ventilateur 12v all solar lights, chargers and fans.

Mr Kwasi Owusu Gyeabour, Country Director of Barefoot Power, said the efforts of Barefoot Power had been well appreciated since constant power supply was a major challenge in the country, adding that the provision of solar systems in the country would help solve the energy problems.
