Eric Ofori Antwi responded very well to the call when he was invited on several occasions to rescue the visitors at the times the El Eulma attack fired from all angles in an attempt to break the deadlock.

The attacking machinery of the Algerians was made impotent in the second half by the defense of Kotoko led by Abeiku Ainooson with support from Amos Frimpong, Eric Donkor, and Atta Kusi.

Jackson Owusu, Micheal Akuffo and Kwadwo Poku ensured the midfield of the Algerians was not their normal self while Ahmed Toure came close to scoring on several occasions in the first half.

Dauda Mohammed was brought on in the 53rd-minute for Emmanuel Asante to add more bite upfront for Kotoko, but the Algerians defended very well to deny Kotoko the chance to score.

The game ended goalless but the visitors looked promising ahead of the second leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in a fortnight.
