The Ghanaian Community in Egypt celebrated to the 58th Independence Anniversary of Ghana at a very colourful event at the official residence of Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt.
His Excellency Col. Omar Sanda Ahamed, the Ambassador in a speech explained how Ghana became the first black African country to gain Independence led by Osagyfou Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. According to him Dr. Kwame Nkrumah wanted to unite Africa hence stating that the Independence of Ghana was meaningless unless it was link up with the total libration of Africa.
H. E. Omar Sanda also talk about the energy crisis in Ghana emphasizing that the NDC government led by H. E. John Dramani Mahama is working around the clock not only to fix it but to solve it once and for good and he urged Ghanaians to ignore the propaganda demonstrations organised by the opposition NPP as the energy crisis was partly caused by the NPP government led by J. A. Kufour.
The Ambassador also praised the Ghanaian Community in Egypt exhibiting discipline and good behaviour and urged them to continue be good citizens and raise the good image of Ghana. He also acknowledged the good work of the organizers Alhaji Abass Basawutey and Mr Issah Fofana for making the occasion very successfully.
The President of the Ghanaian community in Egypt Mr Mansur Yakubu thanked the Ambassador for inviting Ghanaians to his residence to celebrate the 58th Independence day. Mr Mansur promised that the good relationship between the Ghanaian community in Egypt and Embassy of Ghana in Cairo will continue.
There was cultural dancers and a dancing competition after the Ambassador Omar Sanda who opened the floor with a special request of “Yen tie Obiaaa” by Daddy Lumba.
