Urgent: Addae pledges best in Ascoli promotion chase

Bright Addae is fired up for Ascoli Picchio’s title chase in Lega Pro B as he prepares for his return match following a game’s suspension for accumulated yellow cards.

The Ghanaian defender turned midfielder has had a terrific season for the promotion chasers in Italy’s third tier league and is looking forward to his 24th appearance (all starts) when Ascoli travel to face mid-table Gubbio at the Stadio Pietro Barbetti on Saturday.

Addae’s side sit atop the standing of the second section of Lega Pro on 56 points from 28 games, four clear of second placed Teramo with third spot Reggiana a further four points behind with ten games to go. Only the champions gain automatic qualification to next season’s Serie B whilst the 2nd and 3rd positioned teams go into a promotion play-off.

Addae is determined to help his side stretch their winning run to four matches against 10th placed Gubbio (35 points) who ended their 11-match winless run with a first victory of 2015 1-0 at Pontedera only last Sunday.

“Of course I expect us to win, it will be tough away from home but we need the points urgently and we’ll fight to take all three points,” he told Allsports.com.gh from his Italian base.

Addae who has metamorphosed into a midfielder but can still handle affairs in defence, has also netted three times this term and is looking forward to possibly adding to that tally anytime.

“Of course I want to do all my best to help my club for the rest of the season and Saturday’s match is no exception. If I score it will be an extra pleasure but what’s important is to help the team to win,” Bright Addae said. Follow @thedonplato
