Manhyia Takes Steps To Strengthen Ties With The Media

Measures are in place to set up a press corp for the Manhyia palace. To this end, there have been a series of meetings between the traditional authorities at the palace and the Ghana Journalists Association.

The Palace is doing all it can to restore and strengthen the relationship with the media after journalists boycotted the celebration of 80th anniversary of the Ashanti Confederacy.

A meeting between journalists in the Ashanti region and the traditional authorities mooted the idea of a dedicated press corp for Manhyia, a suggestion which sunk well with the media.

Chiefs present promised to do all what is necessary to school the media in “Manhyia affairs” to enable them do what is traditionally acceptable in the palace and also enrich their reportage.

Ashanti GJA President, Listowell Yesu Burkason who has worked hard to strengthen relations between the traditional authorities and the media nursed high hopes the meeting was ushering in a new era of collaboration between the media and the palace.

He encouraged journalists to project the rich Asante culture which has now become a form of Ghanaian identity universally.
