Former Ghana youth defender Baba Mensah has tipped the Black Satellites to win the ongoing Africa Youth Championship in Senegal.

Sellas Tetteh’s side earned qualification to the 2015 FIFA Youth Championship in New Zealand following a 2-1 win over Zambia on Thursday.

Mensah told footy-ghana.com that he is optimistic that the Black Satellites would win the competition, noting that the current squad is made up of great talents who are capable of winning the cup.

“Yes, the current players are good. They’re talented. I believe they’ll win the trophy. They have to improve game after game in order to win every game.’’

He also told footy-ghana.com that Tetteh, who guided Ghana to win the 2009 edition in Rwanda, has rich experience to propel the team to lift the trophy when the tournament comes to a close.

“They also have Sellas Tetteh who needs no description when it comes to the U-20 tournaments. I know the coach will use his experience to help the boys. He has done it before so I don’t think it’s beyond him.’’

Baba Mensah was part of the Ghana U-20 team that won silver at the 2013 African Youth Championship in Algeria and bronze in the 2013 FIFA Youth Championship in Turkey. His defensive partner at Inter Allies, Joseph Aidoo is currently with the team in Senegal.

The Black Satellite will lock horns with Mali who have also qualified for the World Cup in their last group match on Sunday in M’bour.
