Fans of Accra Hearts of Oak have expressed their displeasure about the high gate fees the club will be charging on Sunday against Cameroonian opponents, Olympque de N’gor.
The fans are insisting that the current gate fees of GH₵10 for popular stand and centre line, GH₵20, for lower VIP, GH₵30 for VIP and GH₵50, 00 for VVIP is too prohibitive.
Hearts play Olympque de N’gor in Accra in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup is said to be on the higher side considering the prevailing economic conditions in country.
The team’s followers have called on the Board and the management of the club to take their plea into consideration and reduce the gate fees to attract more Phobians to the stadium to cheer the club to victory.
To these aggrieved fans GH₵5 will be most appropriate to charge for the popular stand and centre line areas to attract more fans to the Accra Stadium.
But their plea seem to have hit the rocks as the club’s representative at PLB, Alhaji Akambi has insisted that the rates will not be changed because the club needs money to finance its daily activities.
Alhaji Akambi said “Ten years ago we charged GH₵5 for our continental games so considering all other factors the GH₵10 should not be something for the fans to cry about”.
But the fans have hit back at his statement describing it as unfortunate.
“Because it will not affect him he thinks it’s ok but that is rather wrong because it shows that he does not care about the fans. Once the team is not winning it will take reduced prices to attract the fans to the stadium because our presence will push the team to victory”, he said. Story by Ghana/Joy Sports
