CAF club-inter competitions: GFA donate $30,000 to Kotoko, Hearts for preparation

Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of have benefited from the Ghana Football Association’s quest to support Ghanaian clubs financially in continental assignments to boost their morale.

Most Ghanaian clubs have over the years complained of limited financial resources as one of the reasons for their poor show in Africa in recent times, as a result of this the GFA offered financial aid to all the four sides from Ghana that participated in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup last year with an initial amount of $20,000 and clubs that progressed further were given an additional amount.

The Ghana FA didn’t make it a nine day wonder, but has continued the tradition they begun last season by dashing out a whooping sum of $30,000 to strengthen the two most successful clubs in the country as they prepare for the Africa inter-clubs competitions in the week-end.

Muheeb saeed, the PRO of Hearts of Oak has expressed that the money came as a big surprise to the club.

‘The GFA have really done well by donating $30,000 to Kotoko and Hearts apiece.  The amount was beyond our expectation and I think they need to be commended for their effort to support us financially,’ he told Allsports.com.gh.

Hearts of Oak take on Olympique De Ngor on Sunday in Accra, while Asante Kotoko is in Algeria to face El Eulma on Saturday.
