The Late Benedicta

The entire students’ body and management of All Nations University in Koforidua, the Eastern Region, on Wednesday mourned the departed student of the institution whose tragic death occurred the week before.

Benedicta Esi Aidoo, a 22-year-old level 100 Business Administration student, died on 4 March, 2015, when she fell from the fourth floor of the university’s block at 8pm during a prayer session following a rehearsal by the school choir.

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC), together with management of the university, marked the one week in a solemn mood in.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been transferred from the Koforidua Government Hospital to the Police Hospital in Accra for postmortem.

The New Juaben Municipal Commander of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Richardson Kumeko, confirmed that his outfit was investigating the incident. However, members of the choir who were expected to give evidence, were reportedly reluctant to report to the police for their statements to be taken, apart from the leader of the singing group who had had his statement taken.

In a related development, the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy, (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the university, has expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

In a statement signed by the Vice President of All Nations Varsity TESCON, Charles Opoku, the group among other things, said that “Benedicta has left a tonne of great memories to all of us. We know we won’t see her tomorrow, in the shadows of the night we let her go. In God’s loving arms is the place where she will be, and she now sees the glimpse of eternity.”
