Lawyer for businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome, says the ruling by the court has vindicated his client.
An Accra High Court today March 12, 2015 freed the embattled businessman who was standing trial for allegedly defrauding the state of Ghc51.2 million.
The controversial payment was made under the tenure of Mrs. Mould Iddrisu as Attorney General. He was facing two counts of causing financial loss to the state and defrauding by false pretence.
But the court presided over by Justice Ajet-Nasam freed Mr. Woyome on the bases that the state prosecution failed to prove its case against him.
Counsel for Mr. Woyome, Musah Ahmed, who spoke to Joy News’ Anny Osabutey after the trial said they have maintained from the beginning that their client is innocent.
He expressed satisfaction after the court confirmed Woyome’s innocence.
