VGMA2015 Host

It has been one of the biggest questions that always pop up ahead of every Vodafone Ghana Music Awards main event night. “Who hosts VGMA final?” this is obviously in recognition of the fact the host or MC, is the life of the event and has the power to make or unmake the show.

For many years, host of Peace FM’s morning show, Kokrokoo, Kwami Sefa Kayi, hosted the big night. With a charisma, command and aura, and a great personality that adequately matched the event, Kwami was an excellent commander in chief of the event until the 2007 edition.

The year after, King of African Dancehall, Samini and Queen of Ghana’s airwaves, Doreen Andoh were handed the baton. Samini with his affable nature and Doreen with her classy demeanor and soothing voice steered affairs safely, but of course, the critics were hard on them, pointing out all their performance to Kwami Sefa Kayi.

In 2010, organisers of the event, Charterhouse, probably baffled by post-performance agitations searched far and wide and presented Kwasi Kyei Darkwa as host. That seemed to have satisfied both patrons present and the usually critical media.

Prior to KKD’s performance, a trio comprising current MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kuffuor, UK based TV host and business woman, Dentaa Boateng and Samini had taken the baton in 2009 and given the show a musical feel.

Actor and TV presenter, Chris Attoh was an awards presenter at the 2010 edition of the show. From 2011 to 2012 however, the talented young man had a double take on the event, pairing with the adorable Doreen Andoh in 2011 and sharing the mic with comedian, Funny Face in 2012.

In 2013, fashion icon and ace radio personality KOD and hiplife artiste Eazzy stepped up onto the stage of the most anticipated event on the GH entertainment calendar, and they lived up to all their individual hypes, earning themselves an encore in 2014.

With about 10 hosts featured in eight years, the million dollar question couldn’t be more apparent. Who will host the 16th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards?

No names have been dropped yet that sooner or later, the predictions would begin and by April 11, whoever is picked as host will be seen, as they say, “fiili fiili”.
