Sellas Tetteh expects stiff Zambia challenge

Black Satellites coach Sellas Tetteh is expecting a resistance from Zambia in Ghana’s next match on Thursday in the  CAF Under 20 Championship.

The Black Satellites defeated South Africa 2:0 in the opening match, whiles Zambia lost 1:0 to Mali in group B and a second successive defeat for the Zambians could spell doom for them; a situation Sellas believes will make the match uncompromising.

“The encounter will be challenging; they (Zambia) are wounded, they are dented so they will be coming firing on all cylinders,” Sellas told www.ghanafa.org in Senegal.

After defeating South Africa, Sellas Tetteh and his technical staff as well as the playing body stayed behind to observe Zambia and Mali in the second game, but the Ghana coach says strategies for the Zambians will not be based only on their match against Mali.

“We watched them and we know they are a strong side, a very physical side but we cannot also count in it as their true picture because they could change at any given time,” Sellas said.

” The only thing is for us to prepare very well. What we saw from them, we work towards it and make sure that our plan B will be working so that at least if there are difficulties, we could also turn around to meet the difficulties and over come it.”

The coach was confident his side will draw enough inspiration from the positives of the first game to consolidate their position in the group.

“The positives are more than the negatives so it is good for us. I think we played well in the South Africa game.

“We played quite well, we defended also quite well although we missed quite some glorious chances but in the game of football, you cannot play ninety minutes without mistakes. We are in a very good position to consolidate our place.”

Ghana could book a place in the semi finals and a qualification to the Fifa Under 20 World Cup with a win against Zambia.
