Former Energy Minister Dr Oteng-Adjei is likely to be named chairman of the Board of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Myjoyonline.com has learnt.
GNPC sources will not confirm or deny the information except to add that a formal communication will be made by the ministry.
If confirmed Dr Oteng-Adjei will takeover from Ato Awhoi who has led the seven-member board over the last few years.
Dr Oteng-Adjei was Minister of Environment, Science and Technology in 2013.
He has since been on the quiet, except for a recent car controversy in which he was accused of taking home a plush Lexus vehicle he used when he was Energy Minister.
He however returned the vehicle after vehement media criticism.
It is not clear yet whether a new board will be constituted with Oteng-Adjei as chair or he will be made chair over the existing members.
The current board members include, Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation Alex Mould, Awulae Atibrukusu, Cadman Mills, Kweku Temeng , Alexandra Amoako Mensah and Kyeretwie Opoku.
