The son of President John Mahama, Sharaf Mahama, was among the thousands of Al-Ain fans in the derby clash against Al Jazira yesterday.

Sharaf, 22, currently studying in Dubai, hooked up with Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan (Baby Jet) a few hours before the derby, according to the player’s website-AsamoahGyan3.com.

And like his father, Sharaf, who is a big fan of the Ghana captain, took pictures with Gyan and pledged his support when Al-Ain faced their Abu Dhabi rivals.

Al-Ain, before the game, were three points clear ahead of their opponents, and were looking for all the points in their quest of reclaiming the Arabian Gulf League title this season. And indeed, they pipped Al Jazira 2-1 yesterday, with Asamoah Gyan scoring the second goal for his side.

Al Ain opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Omar Abdulrahman, before Gyan added a second in the 32nd minute.  Manuel Lanzini pulled one back for Al Jazira on the stroke of half time, and the scores remained unchanged after 90 minutes.
