NPC reschedules elections


Accra, Mar. 10, GNA – The National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Ghana has postponed its elections and congress to Wednesday, March 19.

The elections was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 12, but had to be postponed to enable the NPC to have adequate time to deal with some technicalities with regards to complilation of delegates.

A statement signed by Ignatius Elletey, General Secretary of the NPC said, his outfit needed time to compile list of qualified delegates for the congress and the elections hence the postponement.

This he said was to avoid disagreements on the status of some delegates on the day of the congress.

He noted that, the NPC will be ready for the new date and assured all delegates and candidates of a smooth and a successful elections.

The NPC last week opened nominations for its elections with 13 candidates filing to contest for the various positions.

Bishop Cornelius Adjah-Cofie, the incumbent president, was the only candidate who picked nominations forms for the presidency, whilst incumbent Francis Adjetey Sowah, Eric Kussi, Alex Tettey and Richard Offei will vie for the position of vice president.

Wilson Yaw Agbesi, John Kuuku Dsane and James Adjetey Adjei will vie for the position of the treasurer with five candidates;   Sulley Amadu, Elvis Kossi Alipui, Frederick Assor Joel Andam Quansah and Johnson Mahama all going for the four executive slots.
